I just noticed something very strange with the VIN's on the tracking sheet... Did you ever notice how many of them end in "55"?

Also, seems many people post they got the same VIN. I'm starting to question the validity of this data...

I think the Google Form does some formula that obfuscates the actual VIN. The form says to put in (I think) the first 6 digits of your VIN. It must be adding something on the end of that to display in the spreadsheet.

So I'm starting to lend a little credence in what the delivery specialist told me this morning. The VIN that I received yesterday (which was subsequently removed) was a 213xxx VIN. If you look at the spreadsheet, only up to about 209xxx have been delivered (only one 210 and two 211s). So the fact that that I got a 213 makes me think it really was a pre-prod VIN as most of the 212, 213, and 214 don't even have a delivery date set. The spreadsheet is a very, very small sample size so it has to be taken with a grain of salt. But I think it could indicate there at least 3 or 4 thousand cars that have either just been made or about to be made.
My VIN is 210 and it'll be delivered tomorrow. I switched from a M3 I ordered on 5/7 (still no vin) to a MY I was able to purchase on Thursday by refreshing Tesla's new inventory page every 7 seconds using a chrome extension.

When I added my info to the spreadsheet about a minute ago it converted the xx I used for the last two digits to 55. So the last 2 digits of my vin as indicated on the spreadsheet are wrong. I think that it automatically converts an "x" to "5", hence all those 55s.

Ordered 4/16, finally transitioned to demo vehicle on June 2nd. Delivery experience was smooth. After reading some comments, I expected Tesla to fumble at each step, but no such experiences for me. One day after placing my demo unit on order, I got a link to schedule delivery (which was a week out at the time), and the date and time stuck through the whole process.

One day before delivery I got a call from a DA to go over my profile and confirm my appointment. Since it was a demo unit, I addressed my concern about the car having major damages and issues. She volunteered to go take a look at the car and give me a call if there are major concerns. She did call me back with some pics of curb rashes on one wheel (19in wheels), and one scratch on the hood. The curb rash did not bother me since they were barely noticeable, but the scratch was concerning from the pictures. She could not fully gauge the depth of it, and volunteered to get the car washed before my delivery time the next day. She completely understood that I was not insane to reject delivery if there was a big issue, and infact hinted that I might still get matched with a car by end of June if I do reject it (I did not believe that, and another reason being that I would lose out on the radar which came with this demo).

I went to the store half expecting to return empty handed and be put in the back of the line. She took some time after the scheduled appointment to get the car completely washed and ready (to be fair, I spoke with her around 6PM the previous evening, and my appointment was at 10AM when the store opened). But once she was ready, the car was perfect. I ordered the Blue with white interior and it looked radiant under the California sun. The scratch still existed, but not at all deep and nothing which can't be buffed out. I accepted delivery after inspecting the rest of the car (interior and exterior). She took some more time to prep up paperwork, and I went ahead and completed the ACH payments etc.

I wanted the keys replaced with new ones since the demo keys were pretty used, and she replaced them at no charge. The DA addressed all my concerns and was very patient with all my questions and concerns. She did mention that it was a busy day, but that did not affect my delivery experience the least bit. The DA installed the temp license plates (on the back) herself, and got the car fully charged for use.

There are a lot of horror stories out there regarding the whole delivery process. I am here to say that not all of it is true, the reps at the Dublin CA store were amazing and a great help. Stay patient, the car is definitely worth it.

I forgot about the whole waiting process once I started cruising on the freeway :)

Lastly, go #teamblue
PS: Although there were a couple price increases after my initial order date 4/16, I did NOT pay a premium by switching to a demo unit. I briefly moved to a demo car which did not match my original config, before jumping again to an exact match. My transition-demo car order agreement also shows the same base for LR AWD (I had to only pay for the optional upgrades). Thought this might interest some folks.

PPS: Just an observation on my end, others may not have experienced the same.

Honestly, it doesn't hurt to try. I called them a couple of times late afternoon yesterday but never got someone to pick up (Dublin).
Ok, I think they are super annoyed and tired of us at this point... I was able to finally reach Colma SC and he said the car is in production and when I asked for estimated delivery or payment guidance - he said "I don't know and your SA should be the one helping you". At least I can stare at my precious VIN # on the screen now until the phone call/text/email comes...

Ouch. The delivery folks at Dublin have been super helpful (not just with this latest snafu but overall). What was interesting about mine is that when I received my VIN, the EDD shrunk to 6/13-6/16...a very small and almost immediate window. So it was odd that a car that is "preproduction" had such a short EDD. I guess just chalk it up to the entire process being complete and total nonsense.

Hopefully your VIN sticks. I'm rooting for you!

Hey guys so I placed my LR bulk interior on 5/31 I show an EDD For 8/14 - 9/14. I reading so,e ordered after me and have a sooner delivery. Wondering if the dam tow hitch is delaying it more.
I really doubt the tow is what's delaying it. I think model (P vs. LR vs SR) is the biggest factor and then exterior color and 5 vs 7 seats. These seem to be produced in batches. Everything else like interior color, wheels, and tow I assume can be swapped on the production line. This is just a hunch.

I think for you, it's just that it was ordered too late where they had already maxed out Q2 production. But you never know. There are plenty of CA people who ordered in the last 4 weeks of Q1 and received a car by the end of March.

Forgive me - relatively new to surfing this forum

I have a bit of an odd order. Originally I placed my order in February when I was living in Pittsburgh. MYLR, Blue, Induction wheels, White interior, Tow Hitch, FSD.

Immediately after I ordered I put it on hold because I wanted to wait until I moved to San Francisco. The day came, I was settled and I completed all of my delivery steps on May 5 for pick up at the Colma SC. My SA is still in Pittsburgh and is literally the worst person to get a hold of. We've never actually spoken on the phone and now I feel like I'm just in the dark.

My EDD has never slipped to September, but does show June 15-June 28 (and increases to +1 everyday for the past 3 days, ex June 12-June 28, June 13-June 28,...)

I've read a bit through the posts, but it's definitely a lot. Is there any rhyme or reason for the way things go? I can't really get more info from my SA and it seems that Colma doesn't really want to deal with folks. Any insight would be helpful. Being patient (as much as I can).

The last time I was talking to a rep in the Fremont factory location, he mentioned that there is no correlation of priority to color or 5 vs 7 seater. Color I can understand could vary a bit but I would assume that the 5 seaters and 7 seaters start from the base base config and should be easily interchangeable.

My SA finally got back to me about the VIN disappearance. He confirmed (although probably just with the Dublin delivery team like I did) that there was still an annotation on my account about having 3rd party financing which is what triggered the early VIN. This is so you can give the VIN to your bank/CU and they can start the process of financing. They don't need to do this with Tesla-financed partners. So the way I see it is the system saw the annotation, gave me the VIN, and then some other system came around later in the day and said "Oh, he's actually going with Tesla financing. No VIN for you!!". He did say that there is a firm production date of 6/19 for me and that he said it's "firm" because it's an exact date and not a date range like he's been seeing in the past. That, and also the fact that we're nearing the end of the quarter so dates will firm up.

@anka2021 , I'm curious if you're doing cash or financing and if financing, are you doing Tesla or 3rd party? If the latter, that could explain the later delivery date and it was a pre-production VIN to get financing in order.

I had updated the form yesterday with my VIN, and the form allowed me to put xx for the last 2 digits of my VIN. After submitting the form, the sheet updated the last 2 as 55, that's what you're seeing.
