Brilliant. Create policies where you can't supply enough electricity to your state's residents and then forbid them to purchase generators to help them deal with the inevitable blackouts.

From 2028. And the law allows the responsible state agency to delay that rule.

In other words, the law effectively give the agency the power to introduce a ban on new gasoline generator from 2028 onwards.

They have 6 years to add more renewables and utility-scale battery systems, plus the market has 6 years to add more solar and battery products before they have to make a decision on banning them.

Your statement was "You don’t need to spend $80k." I disagree. I do need to spend $80K

That seems unusually expensive.
I have been quoted around $10k for PV and see about $15k for battery.
More than nwdiver stated, but much less then here in red state Texas.
Is this due to your area?

Back to topic:
Most of the proposed bill can be done, TODAY, with little impact to businesses.
IMHO, this is a very weak law.

3 power walls - 12.6 kW system + PG&E requirements = $80k

A side note - it took 2 years to get it completed.

This law will hit landscapers the hardest.

Oh, you mean the small independently owned and operated middle class businesses that hire thousand's of lower wage unskilled workers? California laws would NEVER hurt small business, the little people or the underserved...would they?

The pollution from these small engines is enormous, so something needed to be done. The point that I think many people are missing is that this is an aspirational goal/law that will go into effect many years into the future. It will give everyone from manufacturers and suppliers to users of this type of equipment some time to design, produce and purchase new products that will help achieve the goal and comply with the law...It isn't like everything has to be thrown away or retired on January 1, there are many years to prepare...It will all be worked out...

And potential new politicians that can eliminate it

@h2ofun Why downvote my post?
I have battery weeder, 110v weeder, 110v bush trimmer, 110v chain saw, and rather old but functional battery mower (out matched by todays selection).
They do the job just fine.

And my garage is less messy and not smell of oil.
I have a gas powered lawn mower. I drive Ice cars. I have a propane 22kw generator. Gas chain saw. gas weeder. IMO, this green focus is just over the top! Luckily I will be dead when folks may have to pay the price. Here I am in Calif, and we cannot even keep the lights on, and we want to force adding TONS more electrical needs. And who is going to pay, since we already pay the highest fuel costs in the nation.

If folks are SO happy with socialism, there are countries who would love to have you.

I just watched a Youtube of a teenager who just got a passpost out of North Korea. She had never seen a mattress. Or more than 1 room in a house, where 8 slept. Had never seen a bathroom. Her comment is folks who live in the US have NO idea what they have and how lucky they are!!!!

Why?
Electricity is cheaper than gas.
And they could plug into the house they are doing work on.
Possibility can be cheaper.

Fixed that for you

They can afford the couple hundred dollars needed to to stop the pollution they are causing and not paying for.
I sure hope someone smarter than me has reviewed the data and is making a decision based on facts - not politics.

Leaf blowers and small gas engines are loud and pollute - yes. I own two electric leaf blowers and several cordless landscaping tools. I can afford it and they work well for my application. I know the home improvement stores sell a lot of these Chinese made tools - built in factories powered by coal and shipped via dirty two stroke diesel cargo ships.

My gardener (Yes, I own the tools but I have a gardener) is a smart hardworking guy. He and his brother do yards in my neighborhood. They drive an old truck - work hard and struggle to make ends meet. Two weeks ago his leaf blower was having issues. I bought him a new blower. He does not exploit anyone and he does not have the extra money to convert his equipment to electric. Not to mention it would require 10-12 batteries to do his daily routine - I know we discussed it. The gardener who does my work property is in a similar situation.

I dont have the data that hopefully the smart people have making these laws. I am sure they know better than my simple observation but from what I see the homeowners buying the electric power tools and switching from gas powered. The hardworking gardeners are the ones hit the hardest.

Back to plaid discussions.

The 'smart' people making these laws are only in politics because they can't do anything else. The problem is they are grifters that can get enough lemmings to buy into their narrative. They convince people they care about everyone when in reality they only care about themselves and keeping their power to continue their political grift.

Some state has to lead the way. Then there is Texas holding on the the past and worse. Are Your Republican Neighbors Planning On Killing You?

My brother in law is a lawn and garden maintenance contractor, its a couple of years since he transitioned to all electric, and believe me he has all the toys from weed whackers with various blades all the way through chainsaws, loppers and such right up to a 1.3metre ride on with a trailer on it.
Greenworks brand, he is very happy that he made the change.

yep and proud of it

Then let's summarize: you hate socialism and socialists in others ... but you love being a socialist exploiting socialism.
I don't really expect people to reason, but you are FOS.

You do make me wonder though, in what way(s) do you find hypocrisy a positive attribute to be proud of ? Do you encourage it in your children ? Ask your priest to praise its virtues ? Vote for the most hypocritical politician ?
