I'm looking for some sort of break for EVs but nothing yet.

Even though Democrats have solid majorities in both the Assembly and Senate--they needed 3 Republicans in both chambers to sign onto the budget.
The Democrats had the three in the Assembly, but only two in the Senate.
That put moderate Abel Maldonado (R-Santa Cruz) in a unique power broker position. In meetings with Schwarzenegger and Democratic leaders, Maldonado was able to push his agenda.
Among his demands that were met was the removal of a 12-cent-a-gallon gas tax increase.

Automobile owners face a boost in vehicle license fees, which will increase from 0.65% of the value of the car or truck to 1.15%.
A proposed 12-cents-a-gallon surcharge on gasoline was eliminated in the final negotiations.
