We'd love to get your thoughts on a hypothetical PHEV raceway and performance hub in California. Circuit, drag, and dirt tracks would be at the site. The objective is to serve as an educational and entertainment based attraction for PHEV enthusiasts and automotive enthusiasts in general. REFUEL and Formula-E are trailblazers in the high-performance EV space. This hub would support their agendas to spread awareness of the benefits of green automotive technologies.

From a business case perspective, limiting to just PHEV seems like a bad business decision. A track would want to reach the widest possible audience to maximize revenue. Having a few EV/PHEV events would be interesting, but I don't know if there is enough demand to be exclusive.

From an education/awareness perspective, limiting to just PHEV seems like "preaching to the choir". You want to reach those who may not have had exposure to EVs. The way REFUEL does it is great, staggering regular car and EV groups so that the gassers can see the EVs running the same track as them.

One possible advantage of an EV only track would be placing it closer to population centers. No engine noise, oil and gas hazards, etc.

Kipernicus,

You have a good point in that it should be influenced by PHEVs and welcome to ICEs. REFUEL successfully unites both groups. Could a LEED Platinum raceway be developed?
