So... does anyone who ordered in Oct/Nov... NOT have a delivery scheduled OR a VIN? cuz I don't have either.......... and... uh....... hm... 5 days to go. It seems like most people chatting here at least have a delivery scheduled, even if they don't have a VIN... I'm just baffled.

I do not have a VIN or delivery date/build date nothing. I emailed and called today to find any information because I wanted to add the VIN to my insurance before the payment was due. Silence. My estimate for delivery ends tomorrow and I highly highly doubt I will get before EOY.

I ordered in mid October, have a VIN, MVPA, and had a delivery date of yesterday. They missed it and now the SA says it's still in production and has no ETA. So I'm feeling baffled as well

I was in this boat up until yesterday. Also spent the majority of yesterday expressing my frustration on several people.. and a couple today. Different answers every time.

Favorite was the girl that said my vin (in source) was preproduction after 3 days of people telling me it was waiting on transport.

Funnier still... my exact config was at the DC also listed on the inventory site. Wasn’t matched to it because that was an “inventory” and my was custom. So someone that clicked buy yesterday would have driven off without a hitch while I wonder if my car is being built. Baffling. Came down to not getting me matched because I’m on the October pricing and this one is on the current pricing. So I’m the Ahole because I ordered way back in Oct.

Called in again today and the car’s in transit and will be at the dc for 930 delivery pushed back to 1130.

Moral is, stay on top of your order because common sense does not apply Especially for the older orders. Also, someone compared this process to dealing with Comcast service. Dead on! Keep calling back til you get someone that can actually help and isn’t a glorified greeter

Thanks for all the responses! I can only hope that the reason none of have VIN or delivery dates is cuz they need the truckloads to arrive to destination so they can see what kind of colors and builds were randomly loaded on and see who they can match them to. Otherwise if a car was made specifically for my order, they should have been able to tell me where it was in the entire process....... but now I feel like they just make cars randomly and send them out to random places and match whoever gets lucky.

@MattAndLou i wonder if they just all didn’t know what they’re talking about and your car was coming no matter what they said, cuz perhaps communication from production to delivery is poor... but man... calling to get through to someone seems tough and of course the mailbox is full lol.

it’s disheartening that a Delivery specialist actually said EOY was a maybe... I hope they do something for the Oct/Nov people... cuz this is just ridiculous. 4 more days... pray for a miracle! Like... a random red/white SR+ to come to SD and get randomly matched to me. That would be simply splendid. :D

I am happy for those who took delivery though! Congrats! ^^ hope we all get to that point soon too!

Thanks all for the guidance navigating the delivery process. We placed our order on November 23rd and were skeptical whether the delivery would be fulfilled before the big ball drops in New York. Received a text last week that Santa Musk was delivering our 3 to the Rocklin, CA center on Christmas Eve, so we confirmed pick up for yesterday and watched every Tesla delivery video checklist on YouTube in the meantime. Called the center twice and left messages about whether our car was ready, no call backs.

Skepticism prevailed and made another call yesterday morning fully expecting to be denied delivery. A chipper voice on the end of the line confirmed our 3 was on site and ready to roll. One of the You Tube videos had a guy wearing a Believe Elon t-shirt, which at the time I found ironic, but now I am a fellow believer.

Delivery was a seamless 20 minute process, including verifying my loan information and insurance-- both provided through Tesla. I've spent 30 years in banking and the lending, finance and insurance process was the best I've experienced. We couldn't be happier with our car, and played with the fart and Santa modes on our 90 minute drive home. The only thing this car is missing is a dash cam to capture each new owner's jubilant face when hitting the gas pedal . . . . wait a tick . . . I'll never need to put gas in this hot fast ride!

Wishing you all a Tesla before the New Year!

Well there is a dashcam—TeslaCam—but you’ll have to be in front of one of the 4 cameras!

Do check out how to set your car up for TeslaCam and Sentry mode. One of the best free OTA updates we’ve received since I think last October. Keeps getting better with new features and settings people ask for.

Happy New Year to you too and welcome to the family.

Arrived at Santa Barbara DC before they opened, more Teslas unloading and Teslas eagerly awaiting their owners in the back.

Personally I think things move through channels when they are ready to move (suspect there are only so many people working on the orders and database and assigning VINS and the process for paperwork/insurance/licensing/funding follows a certain trail) and calling doesn’t have an effect unless you’re going to cancel and place a new order at current pricing and then still alot of things can factor into that. I don’t believe that people searching for code for a VIN made it show up any faster.

I do think if they said you’d get your car b4 EoY you will unless weather or accident etc intervenes with the delivery.

What a great looking day you have there! Glad cars have made it through the 5 mess and some carriers were able to divert to 101. Let us know how your delivery goes. I’d be curious how many deliveries tgey have scheduled for this weekend.

Good news! I got a call today stating that my car is on the lot today at Buena Park DC so I'll be picking it up later! I'm going to miss frantically roaming the forums in search of new information or relating with others during the waiting stage.

For some more background, I ordered on 11/27 and my original delivery appointment (12/27) was pushed back to 12/29 because the car was still in pre-production. I had a gut feeling that it was going to come a day before the new appointment.

I hope everyone here gets their car by the EOY!

So here’s the real gut punch... they weren’t matching me to the car that was sitting at the DC because it was a different price. One girl even said that car was built more expensive. Just absolute stupidity. If we were on the current price book they would just match another one without a second thought.

Just keep at it! Keep your eyes open for matching inventory. I’m sure it’ll work out. Lot of trucks moving this direction.

Honestly.. it’s BS, but I think you’ll be fine. Just keep an eye out for an inventory car and keep checking for a source VIN and call for status as soon as you see it.

Calling absolutely helped me get my delivery appointment this morning rather that waiting in the wind. As soon as I knew my car was pinged in transit, I called and they set me up an appointment right away. Few clicks and all my manage page went from blank to setup. With just days left, I’m not waiting for calls.

Hi All,

Ordered a SR+ with Aero wheels on 10/25, currently awaiting delivery scheduled for 12/30.

Was thinking of upgrading to a performance version currently in inventory. Do you guys think I can just show up with my checkbook and insurance to take delivery of the inventory vehicle?

Tried calling, but no one is answering. I’m sure they’re swamped.

Thanks,

Try calling a store and talk to anyone. Have them locate the car. If it’s indeed there they can match you with a click or two and you’re ready for an appointment when they can fit you in.

Also, you can try the chat to get them to call you and have them locate the car by VIN.

Some inventory cars are preproduction VINs and not physically anywhere... yet

Just got a text from Fremont confirming the pickup for tomorrow at 9 am, and five minutes later got a call from Buena Park saying the car won’t arrive until tomorrow and that we need to reschedule yet again from 9 am to 1 pm tomorrow but that it might slip yet again depending on the delivery truck. :(

Oh sure you will :p, we know you’ll be out driving your car instead. Congrats and let us know how it goes and how busy they are today.

I think this has something to do with how cars are listed with certain features on them and maybe “booked” for Tesla so it’s not as simple as exchanging one for another and removing things.

Order 11/24 SR+ white/black 19’s was set for delivery on 12/30 in Burbank (never received Vin). Just got a call from Tesla saying my car will not being delivered EOY and can either buy from inventory or cancel for a full refund of my $100 order free. No compensation for tax credits if I decide to wait for early 2020 delivery which is what I can expect if I don’t cancel.
