I'm sorry, how is this a special delivery event? It sounds more like, "Come get your car and go."

This is what it shows on my Tesla page:
Delivery Appointment at
Dec. 31, 2019 at 08:00 PM

This means I'm gonna spend my NYE in Fremont to pickup my car, instead of at 1:30pm...instead of 12/20...

Some people got an earlier email describing it as a Special Delivery Event. Here's a thread where it was first brought up. I have no doubt that some press will be there and I'm think Elon too. Wouldn't be surprised if like other events held at the Factory and elsewhere for announcements and special recognitions, that it's also a drink and hors d'oeuvres type deal. Check out this thread: NY Eve Delivery Event @ the Factory

Congrats! I know you were concerned about build quality. How was your delivery experience? Any issues?
No issues at all - car was perfect from what I could tell! :) Very pleased with the delivery. They showed me the car before signing papers even before I asked to see the vehicle and helped me connect my Tesla app to the car as a key and much more. Great experience, I picked up in Buena Park.

Update: Spoke with a DS and was told that there still isn’t any movement and it looks like my car won’t be ready until Monday or Tuesday. And since I won’t be in town, I will most likely lose my VIN and have to get assigned to another vehicle when I’m back if there’s one available. DS also mentioned that if the tax credit is important, I should cross my fingers and hope I can get assigned another vehicle currently in inventory.

And yet another update: My delivery appointment was moved on Friday from 12/28 to 12/29. Was told that the car is leaving the factory on 12/28 in the morning, so there was a chance I could still get it later that day.

After a couple more false promises, the wife and I changed our 12/29 flight to accommodate the supposed 12/29 delivery at 5:00 PM. Received another text Saturday evening that my 11/3 LR AWD order is still in pre-production at the factory. Not even surprised anymore. New delivery: 12/31 at 3:00 PM. The delivery team at my DC told me that if I'm unable to take delivery by EOY, "we will need to look into options" when I'm back.

Don't even care about the tax credit anymore at this point, I just want my car.

Exactly how I feel... I never really cared about the tax credit, just really want to know when I should expect my car. I don't really care about getting it by 12/31... but if I won't get it until end of January or even February, at least let us know so I can buy another car.

Exactly, even though I have the store manager and the associate store manager on my dumpster fire of an email chain, they have not laid out a specific plan of next steps. It was "expect delivery on 12/30-31" until yesterday when they replied that there is no new info, so it looks like I will not get it this year....but NOTHING about, and if it falls to next year, it will be...first week, last week, Feb or last 2 weeks of next quarter.

At the end of the "you will not get the car this year" was the line: Were you worried about losing the tax credit?..Yet when I replied stating that no, all I care about is my car, there was no reply.

I wonder if I would have gotten some kind of reply if I had said, yes, I want my tax credit!

You should add a reporter or news organization to distribution, and any Tesla VP. You'll get your car within the hour.

Curious how some people are able to find an email/phone number to call? I don't have any of the above except for a sales associate who helped me when I did a test drive. I bought my car online and haven't been able to find a number or email to contact anyone?

Scheduled to pick up the car this afternoon 3PM. As we were going through BOA financing, and Tesla just gave us MVPA at noon on 12/27 (Friday). We did file the MVPA to BOA (we did the BOA car loan pre application weeks ago) and eager to wait for their approval that Friday. But till this morning (Monday) when we contacted BOA they said it's been in reviewing queue and will process it and pay off the loan amount directly to Tesla, but no timeline yet.

Buena Park did call us yesterday and go through all the steps wee need for delivery, and he mentioned if we cannot finalize BOA loan it's fine, just apply for Tesla lending either on the spot or before delivery. I got text message asking about switching from 3rd party to Tesla lending and I replied yes to that text. Supposedly I should get an application soon today but I haven't.

Question: Since Tesla did a poor job to send out VIN and MVPA this late. If the 3rd party loan cannot go through in time before the delivery, is it Ok to apply Tesla financing the same day or in person at delivery? Delivery guy said Tesla lending has 7 days from the delivery date to process it and they can deliver the car to us first if we go to Tesla lending route. Does anyone have this similar experience?

I have an open order with a VIN and delivery set for 12/31 8pm at the factory. I won't be taking this car because I just took delivery of a LR AWD today. I no longer have a cancel button on the SR+ order and the delivery guy told me to just leave it open and it will get reassigned when I don't take delivery.

  • SR+
  • White paint
  • Black interior
  • Aeros
  • Autopilot

If anyone here is waiting for the same spec and knows how to transfer the order, you are welcome to it. The FAQ says...

Can I transfer my Model 3 order or reservation before delivery?
After you place your order, you can transfer your reservation to another person by working with a Delivery Experience Specialist.
Where is ur car located?

Yes, I did this exact thing today. B of A was being a total PITA to deal with, giving me incorrect information at every step, to the point where it risked delaying delivery (scheduled for this evening). I decided to switch to Tesla financing.

Called my SA, told them I wanted to switch. Within 10 minutes I was able to submit the Tesla Loan application on my account website. Got the approval within minutes, reviewed and signed.

Entire process took less than an hour - wish I had just done it to begin with.

There was a text asking if I would like to switch to Tesla lending for todays delivery and I reply yes. But nothing showed up on my account yet. Cannot get anyone on the phone right now and the online chat is useless. I think I will wait till the time for pick up the car and see what is going on.
