Ordered 11/16
SR+ red/white 18" autopilot

- went in person to Carlsbad to see what was going on yesterday, they said hopefully I'll get my car EOY cuz I haven't gotten a phone call saying I won't - even though I have no VIN or delivery date
- Called Tesla today to ask for update and they said most likely will not happen EOY. Which, you know what, I figured. And at this point I've given up on the tax credit, and he said as of right now there is no compensation for it aside from choosing a full refund. He could not tell me when my car might be ready, like not even first week of January or end of January or in 3 months, or ANYTHING.

so... really... the fact I was never assigned a VIN from beginning to end should have been a sign that they weren't even working on my order... if I knew, I would have chosen to upgrade to LR in stock a long time ago since I was on the fence anyway... but really? I don't even get to know approx when they will send me my car, even if I'm willing to wait? I'm past the estimated 4-6 weeks... I just want my car... -_-

I think it is becoming obvious that they intentionally stopped SR+ production expecting a significant number of people to upgrade to LR AWD(more money from them) and that they would use the leftover SR+'s which were cancelled to backfill.

Maybe this has worked in the past, but some delay caused them to start the ball rolling too late to have it go smoothly

They have moved at least 8 LR AWD in the Bay Area in the last 14 hours. Still a bunch of Performance models available.

Guys -- if you aren't married to your exact configuration, I highly encourage you to call your SA. I was fully expected to miss 12/31 delivery, and just wanted to find out if I should expect my car in Jan or in March. I called my SA just earlier today and he was able to match me with two white SR+ in less than 30 minutes apart. While I am not a huge fan of white, I figure I save $1K now and just get a custom paint job later if I really hate the color. I am now scheduled to pick up the car tomorrow :)

I think there are a ton of cancellations right now due to people who cannot pick up their cars due to holiday travels, a good SA can really help you match to a car :)
LOL, that sounds like EXACTLY my configuration

Have you tried Googling "Tesla" and "Name of city where it's located". That's how I got the number.
Yes of course I did that first... I get the number to the sales office which doesn't pick up or return my calls. I got connected to a specialist at the delivery center who said they can't do anything and that I need to talk to my sales rep. I was just curious as to who everyone is speaking with to be able to request changing for a different model or what their options are? Are they just all better sales reps and mine is just non-responsive?

Ok, is everyone ready for plot twist 23 or 24 in the saga. I just received a phone call from the SA that I worked with while standing in the store on 12/26 and she said my car is off the line and going to it's last stop before moving to the delivery area.

I now "officially" have a 3pm pickup appointment at the Fremont delivery hub tomorrow 12/31.
She did not mention updated Lease paperwork or anything, so I am taking it with a grain of salt...but...I might have a car tomorrow.

Call her back and ask about my car!

Tesla delays some US deliveries to next year in end-of-year rush - Electrek

I’m kind of surprised to see Fred write this article. He’s a Tesla investor so he rarely publishing anything that would make Tesla look bad.
LOL, if I did not get an update today, I was going to contact him regarding my situation, and clarify that it was not late orders which were pushed, but earlier orders which were pushed back to make room for inventory cars....

But his Tesla Fanbois would say that it is the correct move for Tesla to make.

By some long-winded blowhardy rationale, you would be wrong for expecting a delivery before EOY.

Has anyone had any luck just going to the Fremont showroom without an appointment? It sounds like a few people were able to get their cars that way but not sure if it was because their SA told them to come? No one is responding to me (I actually don't even have the option to cancel my order). That button is gone and my lease agreement is signed and the payments are already paid. I also show a VIN on my leasing agreement (it has been there since 2 weeks after I placed my order).

I just visited the Tesla Delivery Hub (Fremont) to check the status of SR+ (no appointment), SA there told me that he can give me an LR AWD if i am interested in buying.

LOL, yep. Their goal is to get all SR+ owners to upgrade to an inventory LR, and then use enough cancelled SR+'s to fill the orders which should make EOY!

I just got my (newest) Lease agreement and the VIN is different than the one from the 25th, so I am getting a car that probably was released due to upgrading to an LR,cause they sure were not making Inventory SR+'s for EOY.
