Camera distorted? - advice

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
Evening all, noticed today when looking at some Sentry clips from this evening, that the camera had a line down the middle.

Checked other night time clips & it’s the same.

Not visible at all during the day.

Any ideas what this is? Is it a service center job to fix?

Cheers!

I think when you are pushing camera sensors to the limits of their low light capabilities you can often see this in quite a few cameras. I am pretty sure ours does similar in very low light conditions. My IR camera certainly does that often until I calibrate it.

In the old days, you use to be able to make a camera out of fairly regular memory chips that were available in those days and you could see artefacts from the physical layout of the cells. I expect things have considerably moved on since then, but it wouldn't surprise me if some of these camera sensors were in multiple sections still.
