Can Bioweapon Defense Mode Filter Out Coronavirus?

I've been thinking about this for a while. Does anyone know if Biowepon Defense Mode can Filter Out Coronavirus?

I understand it scrubs outside air but does it also clean the air inside the cabin?

What percentage of interior and exterior air goes through the filter when Bio Weapon Defense Mode is activates?

With this could be activated with a voice command!

On the model S, the HEPA filter is on the air intake path. No inside air is filtered.

bio-weapons defense mode sets the car to high fan speed & outside air (not recirc) with the theory being the interior will have a positive pressure therefore all the air inside the cabin came in through the HEPA.

Any car will filter out Coronavirus.
True. Here is a "size" comparison between, amongst others, viruses, pollen and bacteria.

It's not like it just floats around in the air.

Yes it kind of does, it is actually airborne transmittable, but only over very short distances. Don't expect it to float around over roads, getting sucked in through the car's cabin-air-intake, then being blow into your lungs. That is not how it works.

And, on top of it floating around in the air, most viruses need to stay moist or they die. This is why it usually takes someone coughing in your face to get a cold. Same thing. Colds are a virus, so you just don't go around people who have a cold. Or, you can, but then you have to spray them with bleach if they breathe your direction.

There would be a small chance of transmitting viruses by putting your hand in someone's sneeze fluid on a shopping cart, but then you'd have to put your hand in your mouth. You're pretty much safe.

Does at least the smaller "cabin air filter" filter the air inside the car?

Both filters are on the intake path only. Bioweapon with the positive pressure and filters will prevent airborne virus particles from coming into the car, and will purge the inside air out exhaust vents and replace it with the filtered new air over time.

If you have viruses on the surfaces inside the car, I don't think it'll have much effect - eventually drying things out, presumably, but not much else.

According to CDC the Coronavirus is not air born but rather droplet.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

"The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.
  • Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
  • Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs."

How do you then explain all the people who got sick while being "quarantined" in their rooms aboard a cruse ship? The most likely contamination vector is the air (?).
