Can I ask Tesla to change my referral powerwall to powerwall+?

I have a question. Tesla is now ready to ship my Founder Series Powerwall after all the delays. Should I ask for the newer model? In a way, it’s like being awarded a 2017 car and it being delivered in 2021.

What are your thoughts?

Its actually more like getting a 2020 car in 2021, one that has features designed for make it easier for mechanics to work on, or take up less space in your garage, at least in my opinion.

Powerwall 2s are still being installed right now, so its still a current product, and it appears to me that the main differences have to do with "less boxes on the wall, if the authority having jurisdictions (AHJ) allow.

You likely wouldnt get the gateway as well, which has a 1100 value. If I were getting a referral powerwall, I would want the regular one and the gateway as that would be easier to get installed OR to sell if I was so inclined.

What are you connecting the new powerwall to? The plus will get you the integrated inverter but you’d need solar to run into it for it to serve any purpose. Otherwise the battery itself is the same.

I'm a newbie but with everyone's help on here and watching my resent install there is no difference in the Powerwall itself. I have a 2.1 setup without + but the PW itself is the third gen. Like others have said you with need to add the + invertor.

Pix? Is it the custom red panel one? What did they hookup to the inverter or did you added more panels?

No, not the red panel one, they said they stopped manufacturing those a couple years ago. Its ok though as I got the newer version . I installed new solar with the powerwall+ so the inverter is hooked to the solar panels.

It’s supposed to be the red one with signatures, but who knows what will arrive. I have no solar.

Been waiting since 2018 for my Founders Series Powerwall. They recently sent me the contract and I signed it; it'll be for the newer Powerwall as the Founders series is discontinued.

No timing for installation or site survey though.
