Can Tesla or other brands of EV shut down failed HV battery modules

Is it possible for Tesla EVs to shutdown failed battery modules and continue driving without problems with reduced range (and possibly power)? If not is it possible this capability could be done by servicing or future software updates?

From reading reports on HV battery pack failures it sounds like that Tesla EVs can't do this or at least that Teslas with failing packs are only offered full battery pack replacements.

It sounds like the original Nissan Leaf can do this and older cars simply shutdown failed modules which reduces the range (though I haven't read reports about older Nissan Leaf reducing in acceleration).

What about other EV battery architectures?
