Can you lock model X with keys inside?

It might be detecting your phone’s Bluetooth if you have your phone with you when attempting to open the door.

I too was disappointed that I couldn’t get it to stay locked in the dead zone, but I’ve replicated this multiple times:
- Left key in dead zone, walked away, came back and it opened (had phone in my pocket).
- Key in dead zone, walked away, left my phone on the ground a decent distance away, came back, tried the door and it stayed locked.

What year model is your X?
Seems there is no longer a "dead spot" on 2019 or newer.

Just had Paint Protection Film done on my ‘20 MX and they locked the key in the trunk (5 seater) and they could t get it to open again. They texted me and asked me to remotely unlock it. Unfortunately mine seems to have some LTE issues so I had to drive the spare over

2018, dead zone works for me. Maybe that’s the difference.

It's possible that the fob range varies with fob battery strength. That would explain the varied results.
