I bought a Model S in Canada a year and a half ago but I am moving to Spain in a few months. Will the car work there?
Short answer - it will work, but it easiest to get a European model. Apart from the charging socket being different, there are issues with maps, 3G/4G networks, etc. and other regulatory differences. You might find there is no warranty coverage, either.
if you got a raven Model S you can get a CSS adapter and Tesla can also flash you european maps (they do it for the armed forces all the time). But the real issue is that you a) need to ship the car back to the USA for warranty related stuff and b) you need to overhaul the car to register it in europe i.e. fog lights, amber indicators, inspection costs, MOT etc. Easier to sell the car and buy a second hand one in europe.
Hi there - What have you ended up doing - just curious? In the same boat here, planning to take my 4-month-old Model Y in June 2021 to Netherlands, but it doesn't look good after extensive research
