I had G1 Nov 2015, then G full Dec 2015 (25 yr + yr old). So now total up to 6 years with G license. The lowest I can get in Toronto (no tickets/ no claims) is $2500/yr from TD with max coverage and minimum deductibles + 5 years car replacement. I did quote for MY - $2700.
I did quote from Aviva - $3200, belairdirect -$3900.

For newcomers, TD will be the cheapest one.
Ahh, good to know. Thank you! Happy to hear anyone else's experience with insurance quotes in Ontario for new drivers.

Well was all excited to go pick up our white MY LR today and there were minor issues that I was willing to accept to be fixed after delivery such as tailgate misaligned, frunk hood stuck up on the left, interior b-pillar and headliner was loose, rear passenger door was not closing correctly.

Ending up rejecting the car as the rear passenger door edge paint was all chipped up, a good 5 or so inches all the way down the edge and they just used touch up paint to fix it. Was given an option to let them repaint the car and accept delivery in a week, accept and then schedule a service visit, or just reject. Decided just to wait for a new car or another inventory as we really wanted blue anyways... We really didn't want to be one of those people rejecting delivery... also didn't even run through a checklist to inspect the car.

I'll upload some pictures later tonight.
I’d be so bummed. What was your order date? And what’s your new EDD, do you get sent to the back of the line?

May 29, but found this car in inventory Aug 9 so I should've kept the original order ... oh well.
Yup back of the line now.

Here are some pics of the door paint along with a random excess paint bubble on the fender.

You guys think I made the right decision?

You absolutely made the right decision. I would have walked away from that as well.

That's probably how it appeared in inventory. Someone else walked away from it. And Tesla being Tesla, tried to pawn it off on someone else.

Congrats! I'm only 5 days off of you and also in the Prairies, so maybe I'll hear something soon?
I doubt they would be taking your VIN away in the middle of the quarter, but who knows with the RNG that is the tesla site.

It truly is a mystery as to how vehicles are distributed.
Congrats David! I hope the same as you faturn. Just ran into a guy who took delivery last week who had ordered in Feburary...that didn't make me feel better.

Thanks @msmyedm! I have to give Edmonton Tesla even more credit. As I understand it, if you don’t select the 3 day window they give you, you’re out of luck. The scheduled date was during my vacation but they were kind enough to wait until I come back… Originaly scheduled for Aug 30-Sep 1, now booked to pick up on the week of the 7th! Now, on to booking my MY for PPF…

have you tried Johnson insurance? they were the cheapest for me at $1466/yr. How did you go from G1 to G in a month? out of country exchange? Btw I was told TD reduced their replacement to 3 yrs from 5...are you sure you are still getting 5?

Yeah I called TD MM I few weeks ago asking for a quote for a MYLR. I asked to add the 5 year full replacement option and they said it was no longer available as of around May of this year. They only offer the 3 year no-depreciation option now.

I have the 5 year full replacement option on my Model 3 and it's the better option IMO. If it were to get considered a loss I'd get a higher trim option as a replacement. The 3 year no-depreciation option just cuts you a cheque for what you paid for the car.

My renewal date is March 30, so I still have 5 year full replacement option for now

Thanks for advice. I will try Johnson insurance too.
I had a driver's license from my country, and they counted it as 1+ years of driving experience in Canada. I was eligible for G full straight after G1. If you fail, you have to get G2 first and then G. I got G on the first attempt.

ahh man... what a drag
"holy excess paint spray batman".. that is crazy. and also the bad pain on door edge. Those do look to be deal breakers.

The liner, the frunk the tailgate. Those could most likely be fixed easily. The paint is another story, and they offered a complete respray??? That's a lot of effort on their part, but wow.. I don't think I'd go for that!

.. Good luck... keep us informed!
