My order (#178) is now confirmed (paperwork complete) so I asked my Tesla Specialist what the process was to get a build and delivery date. The response I received was:

"Supply chain will get promoted with your order and start getting parts ordered and ready to go. Then your car will enter production and towards the end of production we will begin work on the logistics."

I'm not sure what this means in terms of getting production information. Did I ask the wrong question?

Cheers.

I believe it is Tesla code for you will get your car when you get your car, and it will be a surprise to us all when that happens....

We saw our first Sig Model S in Vancouver two days ago. I tried to get my wife to chase the guy down so I could talk to him about delivery, but she just gave me the "look" and kept on driving!

It was Sig Red, and I'm pleased mine will be black!

Cheers.

Good Lord! Let me translate for you: "We have your money and will call you when your car is ready".

Why can't corporations just speak plainly and truthfully. (I'm not saying this statement isn't truthful, just that is seems to confuse the matter with doublespeak). You asked for a DATE after all.

I asked for more detail and received:

"3-4 weeks before delivery you will get the VIN number

Better than nothing!

Cheers.

Just checked my Garage Page and this was there:

"Status

The Tesla Factory is building your Model S Performance"

We'll see what happens now.

Cheers.

After speaking with Tesla’s Palo Alto office it appears that Canadian P reservation holders will have to wait until Feb/Mar, as stated in those early Canadian P holders that were able to finalize earlier this month (December). I was told that the Canadian P vehicles are not even ‘scheduled’ for assembly yet. So, I suspect the first Canadian Ps will be delivered around the end of Feb.

I don’t mind waiting until Feb/Mar, but the thing that is most disappointing/disturbing is that from the outset, Tesla said that vehicles would be produced in sequence, barring issues with supplier delays and perhaps ramp up issues, BUT, there are US P reservation holders that reserved only a year ago and they either have their vehicles already, or are in the process of getting them in January.

There can’t be that much retooling required for Canadian versions since most if not all Canadian Signatures have been delivered, so they should know how to crank these out. Furthermore, there appears to be some US P 60kWh vehicles that will be delivered before the first Canadian P 85kWh holder.

I agree with you - I am also disappointed with these delays. I think one of the main reasons is that they had to get the most cars out to customers by the end of 2012, and the bulk of their reservations are in the US.

With the issues that have cropped up regarding the S in cold weather, I see it as more time for them to work out some of the kinks before we get our cars.

Some owners have waited much longer than I for their S, some not. There has been so much speculation and angst about which car gets delivered in what sequence, but in the end, it will make little to no difference (except for sig owners, who paid a premium to get theirs first).

I still have not been asked to finalize. I have a lease expiring in early may 2013 and thought I would have my S in ample time, but am starting to think I may have to use a temporary solution (rental or lease extension), but it should not be a big deal... I hope!

I agree that a month or two up or down doesn't really make a huge difference when we are talking about owning the car for many years to come. Im more concerned about getting a charging solution at the condo i'm renting in Burlington and at my work there.

so untill then P297 will have to wait :)

When I call Tesla in August in order to make the decision going with the Signature, or defer to production, they told me that the general production will be about a month later than signature ( which was schedule for dec then)
As Signature were deliver end of december, i'm expeting my car end of january or early feb. I can't imagine getting my car more than 4 year (march 27th 2013) after ordering the car. I'm expecting from Tesla to consider Canadian general production customer who make the deposit in 2009 more than they currently do.
As it's winter, and Canada as rude winter, they may want to brings car later on the raod, or with a winter pakage... then i can understand the wait... so far, no communication from Tesla, and as P #5 I hope getting my car in Feb.

Well, when I was making that decision, the word that was used on the telephone was "months", and so I decided to go for Signature. Like you, I reserved on the first day. However, my car is still sitting in Toronto for an unknown reason, apparently "logistics" is working on it. When it arrived in Toronto and I said I didn't think I could make it to the delivery event (it being 2000+km and a snowstorm was between me and Toronto that weekend to boot, plus back issues that make long trips difficult) I was told that it should be no problem to still get it before Christmas, and for sure in 2012. I still don't know why it is still there; I've been in contact with several people at Tesla now, but I feel very much in the dark, despite being assured that it will be shipped ASAP. I've tried to be very patient and understanding, but it's been a not-so-merry Christmas (at least my life is much more than just cars, otherwise I'd be depressed).

So toto, I'd say you were still the smarter one for paying less for more options. Maybe my tune will change later, but I paid a premium for early delivery and I'm disappointed. I still believe that Tesla's direction and goals are good, but I would not be recommending anyone put down extra cash for a Signature. Unless you just want to make TSLA stocks more valuable ;)

KBF, thank you for the support, and being in your situation will definitly upset me...

Sounds like having a Model S required patience and wisdom. I have almost use all my patience, and will start using wisdom then for the comings weeks.

Good luck, and hope the winter time will not delay it more.
