Based on some other things I saw - though admittedly looked at only quickly - it seems that the Mach E 'stop safely' problem is indeed hardware and that any software fix will just be a temporary one to try to minimize the problem until they get the hardware sorted out. I heard also that they are stopping deliveries, with no immediate prospect of restarting and that a solution is not expected until Q3. Not a good situation for Ford (or for the reputation of EVs generally). As I suggested previously, Ford rushed the Mach E.

Well, Tesla only has a 10 year head start. That can't make difference to a true Blue fanboi.
Who didn't see this coming a mile away? This is how Ford does things. According to what I read on the forums, this problem was being addressed by changing out hardware (HVJB), so I'm not sure how software is supposed to solve it. This article seems to indicate that as well (sorry if this link was posted before). I also don't believe the 50% number. I truly believe ALL are affected.

And their OTA functionality is nothing less than sad, so this is going to be comical to watch. Tesla had issues too, but they were a start-up. Ford had the money and the other EVs already built to learn from, so this isn't anything like Tesla. This is much worse, IMO.

There's a thread on there where a guy was in process of taking delivery of his mache, and the dealer put a hold on it since the recall. All sales are put on hold so the poor guy just is stuck in limbo. Talk about being screwed!

Yeah literally in the dealer signing paperwork for his car, sucks for him.
The software fix is just an attempt to prevent it happening before they deploy hardware.

Well Q3 is only a few weeks away potentially.
If they are building new MachE with revised parts then they have a fix, somehow I doubt it because they say they dont have a fix yet

The crazy thing is they were selling recalled cars up to May '22 before they issued the hold. That looks to me like they don't have a fix ready given how they delivered flawed cars and the timing of the recall.

Yep they were sill making fault cars last month. Have they just stopped or are they making fixed cars now?
Any hardware fix will be expensive, dropping the packs and opening them up etc

a different part on assembly line could be very different from replacing the part after it's built. they also need to assess whether all need this replacement, or only certain cars.
even Tesla, with so many years ahead, still have numeric recalls (center display overheat, X side airbags etc. just to name a couple).
when I bought my Mach E, I fully expected it likely would have more issues than a mature product. I just hope my Tesla Model Y holds better.
