I just ran a quote through my insurance company (MAPFRE) and they informed my agent that starting in May the company is going to cancel all policies on Tesla vehicles. He said that other insurance companies that he sells are doing the same thing and it is resulting in a major increase in insurance costs by the carries that will still write for the car.

Yikes. Glad I only need liability.

Maybe this will shock loose the parts and repair situation.

I got a quote from GEICO to replace my Mazda3 with a used 2013 Model S. Our premium went up about $55 a month.

I've always had best luck on insurance by working with an Independent agent who can shop multiple companies; I always recommend this to friends.

I completely agree. My agent said he shops 20+ companies and over 50% do not write policies for tesla and the remaining now starting to follow suit.

I was quoted $800/yr for full coverage on a 2014 s85 and my agent expects the rate to go closer to 1200 and upon renewal may double as more companies stop writing coverage for the car.

He didn't want to talk me out of it and said he'd get coverage and the best rate but wanted me to be able to make an informed decision.

Policy went up $360 per 6 months compared to my 2014 Chevy Suburban (now sold). That is with NC Farm Bureau
