Car not getting into park when I open the driver door

I recently got the 2018.10.4 (was on 2017.50.3 before), and noticed that if I now stop and open the driver door the car don't go into park anymore. Did anybody else noticed this?

I usually always put in park before existing but this was a easy way to extend the handles when needed to pick up somebody that didn't know to extend the handle. Now I will have to put in park and open the driver door to do the same.

Don't have an S but... there's the option to 'unlock doors when put in Park'. Does that extend the handles for an S?

The 'Park' seems like a bug. When my GF opens the passenger door and we're not in Park, it complains, of course. I've not tried the same with the Driver's door to see what it does recently. (No handles to extend on an X... :D)

And, of course, have you tried rebooting the MCU to see if it's just a glitch? Usual hold both scroll wheels. You never know if you haven't tried!

You can extend the door handles by pushing the park button twice. No need to open the door.

Didn't know about the pressing park twice. Thanks.

Another interesting thing is today when I went back to the car my small screen had rebooted and needed few seconds to come up, now everything is back to the old behavior.

Not sure. It is the first time it happened that the small screen had the tesla logo on it when I entered the car. Happened to me few time for the large screen however over the 5 months of ownership after one of the updates. So I presumed reboot.
I see the Tesla logo on the small screen almost every morning.

I have energy savings enabled and always connected off.

The unlock does start powering things up. So perhaps it is typically on before you see it.

As I mention, I only see it on the dash drivers screen. The center big screen always comes up fast.

On the park thing, I don't think mine goes into park either if I open the door. As long as my butt is in the seat and the seatbelt is on. But that is just a guess based on my terrible memory. I'll try to remember to check it tomorrow.

Yes, double push extends the door handles. Also lock/unlock on the dash if I remember correctly.
