Car seats and car seat protection...what do you use?

We have a Chicco multi-stage but it is so huge, and were looking at the Lusso protection for the seats. Does anyone have recs for a smaller car seat? What about protection?

I use a Britax One4Life. It's one of the few that both fit reverse facing without cramping the front seats and also skinny enough to allow the 40/60 fold to go down without removing the seat. Bonus: Made in the USA (a rarity in this day and age).

I also use Diono Ultra Mat seat protectors under the car seats to avoid marring the car's upholstry.
