Car Wash & Wheel Rim Damage

I have 19" Sport Wheels on my Long Range AWD. Noticed rim damaged after running my car thru various car washes. Any one have similar experiences?

A neighbor down the street complaining about the same issue a couple months ago. Cash wash people pointed him to sign saying they are not responsible !!! It's one of the many reasons I don't put my MX through a car wash.

One of the Youtube videos I watched before I took delivery mentioned this and I've never put my car through car wash for that reason. Learn the 2 bucket system with ONR. It's not hard and your car won't get beat up.

I (now) only use the touchless drive-in kind that don't have that stupid metal wheel guide. Got a couple nicks myself from early on.

The M3 manual specifically cautions against traditional car washes and recommends only touches car washes. Maybe this is why.
During the winter I tool my M3 thru a number of different touchless car washes with no ill effects. Now that warmer weather is here it's
DIY time for me, even tho it is snowing lightly as I type this!

I've always hand washed my car for this very reason. I go to the car wash spots that have the hand power washer... cuz nobody got time for swirl marks on this crap paint job from Tesla. I can breath on the paint and it will peel LOL but for real,, just hand wash/ hand power wash it.

Thank you to everyone who replied. I did not catch the warning in the manual but certainly understand it now. Next step is finding someone reliable to refinish the finish on my rims and find the nearest touchless car wash for the occasions when I don't have time to wash it myself.
