Car would not turn on

So this morning I get into my car 2020 Model X Long range and both displays remained black.

I could not wake it up.

The app communicated with the car but I could not get it to turn on, let alone drive.

I tried rebooting, holding the brake pedal and pressing the 2 scroll knobs, but nothing. I tried calling customer support but as usual they don’t ans.

Has this ever happened to anyone?

how did you resolve it?

After trying everything I could think of without success, I decided to pull the first responder connector out and disconnect the 12 volt battery. I waited a minute and reconnected everything and the car came back alive.

obviously I am concerned there is an underlying issue.

any ideas?

Sometimes the cars computer gets tangled up...
The Micro SD card in your MCU may be failing.

You performed a good reset of the car.

Another reset that works nearly as well with less car disassembly
is to change the wheel size on the service menu let the car reboot.
Then change the wheel size back to what it should be...
This causes a reboot which reboots the gateway of the car's computer.
It is thought to be as effective as what you did without tearing the car apart...

Keep an eye on the car's behavior.
If it continues to fail, it might be the Micro SD card needs to be reformatted
or replaced. This seems to be more common on model year 2020 cars...

Looks like you did the right thing - I’d schedule an appointment using the app now so they can pull the logs

Could be anything, so get it checked ASAP

We had this same issue and it had to be towed to the dealer. No reboots worked. It was the SD card. I don't know why they didn't send a mobile repair guy with an SD chip. In the end we lost the use of our 2020 Model X for 3.5 days.

If the problem still exists you might want to rule out a 12V battery issue. Unplug the car from charger, if plugged in and close the door. Then open it to see if you get a white light and are then able to plug in and begin charging. If you can’t this would indicate a 12V battery issue.

Can you explain more about where the microSD card is located? I’m not going to replace it myself, but I’d like to understand the problem with my 2020 Model X.

As I understand the SD card is a part of the MCU. It is the one where maps and navigation data is stored. It is accessible from inside the vehicle. I don't know how to change the SD card.

I had mobile tech came to my house after a failed firmware update.
He replaced SD card and reloaded firmware.
It is micro SD card as a part of MCU. For model S/X, MCU is whole unit just under main LCD.
