Carbon fiber wrap dashboard

So I'm off until the new year and was really board today. Decided to take apart the dash to wrap the piano black parts in a 3M gray carbon fiber wrap. It was way easier than I thought. Taking the pieces out took about 30 minutes. Wrapping took about another hour. Would have taken less but messed up the first one I did.

Check it out.

How much was the carbon fiber vinyl? I felt like the $250 for the OEM carbon fiber was one of the more reasonable upgrades, definitely love the look

Not sure where you saw the OEM carbon fiber dash parts for $250 but if you see it again, buy it. I have never seen them for less than $750.

I paid $38 for the 3M gray carbon fiber. It came in a roll of 5 feet by 2 feet. More than enough to do the 3 dash parts. I noticed this morning that I forgot to do the area under the sliding armrest surrounding the cupholders. That might be a little tougher. Not even sure how to take that area apart. Anyone know how?

The one thing i have noticed with the Tesla group is the willingness to help one another, I cant say that about the diesel forums. Most of those guys bash you and repeat the same question, what size suspension/ rims and can i get a smoke tune. being a diesel truck owner that's looking to convert and jump ship, this is very refreshing. Btw, that wrap looks great!!

$38 for the results you got is a heck of a deal, the end result looks really good. When I ordered my X carbon fiber decor was only $250 from Tesla, so glad I got it cu it really makes the interior look much better, congrats on your project!

Yeah, I messed up the first one I did. I had to take it all off and do it again. Honestly not that hard, It's very pliable. I also used a hair dryer to heat it up to pull it around certain areas and to get rid of bubbles. Trust me if I could do it, you can too.

I'll likely end up trying it eventually. I have the factory carbon fiber, but I may try doing a brushed red aluminum look.

Yeah that's a great price when ordered. I bought the car used so I didn't have that option. The piano black it came with was a little too glossy and attracted fingerprints and scratches. The car is midnight silver with gray interior. I thought the gray carbon fiber matched better.

Thanks for all the compliments everyone. Glad to help if I can.

I'm not a fan of 3M wrap anymore. I swear by Christian at CK wraps, check him out on youtube! He doesn't recommend 3M and I agree. I like Avery Supreme, but have used Vivid as well. Your wrap looks good, don't me wrong! Anyone looking to DIY watch CK do his thing.

Another option to save the pain of removing all the dash pieces... 5 minutes to use pre-cut carbon fiber wrap

How is the fit on it, are there any gaps around the edges? Also, is it me or are the slanted patterns different on the 2 small pieces?

The fit is good and the gaps are too small to notice.
The pattern on the carbon fiber is identical on all pieces
Finally got around to installing the stickers I got from Ebay and is kind of disappointed with all the gaps. I might have to take it all apart and wrap it instead.

Dude, that looks horrible. Dude you heat it up a little to help stretch it?

Just buy a roll of it and do it yourself. Trust me, it was REALLY easy, even with taking the panels off the dash. Honestly, if I could do it, ANYONE can. No joke.
