Carpet Seams

Every time I go to my car I find something new. Does everyone have these seams right in the middle of their carpet next to the seats? By seams I mean two pieces of carpet overlapping eachother. My passenger side has a different overlap than my drivers side. It looks like the drivers side might have been installed backwards? Even if it's correct, is this a normal thing in cars? Just a big seam where two pieces of carpet meet?

This is an old thread, I found it when searching after noticing this for the first time on my car. I think every other car I have ever owned, even going back to models in the late 60s - the floor carpet has always been a single piece. It seems kinda janky that they put it out this way. At same time, it actually took me 3 1/2 years before I actually noticed this. Do the newest models still have this way?
