Interesting. One molded plastic piece like the J1772 adapter, not a cable like the CHAdeMO. I wonder if it has any electronics, or if it's a simple adapter like the J1772 and they've made the car speak CCS.

I think it's fairly clearly a passive adapter. An active adapter was always going to be problematic as (unlike CHAdeMO) there's no source of power to run the internal electronics, and full protocol conversion in the adapter would be hard work (quite a lot of electronics).
The photo doesn't actually prove how this is resolved - it COULD just be an adapter enabling use at superchargers, with no protocol conversion (and hence no support of third-party CCS). However, there have been rumours elsewhere that the adapter would also need an upgrade to the car. An upgrade in the car to support CCS protocol could be a fairly simple plug-and-play option on existing wiring harnesses, probably needing a service centre visit but only a brief one.
