Cell booster

I'm in a rural area and the TEG cellular has never worked well (and generally not at all). As there is another spot in the house that also gets poor cell reception, I'm considering an indoor cell booster. Any recommendations? Looking to keep costs down on this or take the diy approach. Carrier is Verizon.

i have a very weak cell signal at my house. when our cable ISP goes down the the gateway can not communicate with Tesla. I put up a huge stink immediately after my install and tried to get them to install a booster to no avail. the saving grace has been the ability to connect directly to the powerwall's wifi network for monitoring solar production and powerwall capacity during an ISP outage. this does not however solve the problem of remote diagnostics and receiving updates in the event it's needed. When my cable ISP goes down i'm on my own without any help from Tesla. IIRC, they told me that the PW gateway uses an AT&T mobile chip set.

I have had Wilson boosters in the past, and they were excellent. One tip: get a directional exterior antenna, (Yagi/panel/LPDA) and take the time to map the signal strength by direction. It can make a big difference. Pointing the antenna at where you know the tower is doesn't always get you the best signal.

Basically, you get some gain on the antenna(s), loss on the cables, and gain on the amplifier, so try not to have long cables, and do separate the interior and exterior antennas so that you don't get feedback between them.

I hear good things about the Cel-Fi Go, but I haven't used it myself. The only downsides are cost, and that they are carrier specific.

All the best,

BG
