Center console armrest modification

I want to modify model Y center console hinge, so the lid will rotate farther back, out of my way. When I open it, it does not open far enough to get out of the way of my elbow and arm. Sometimes, I want it to remain open, for a while, while I’m driving, for one reason or another. Can anyone offer advice?

Yeah it’s not that uncommon. However most only seem to go back enough to expose cup holders. But I could see one going much further back and still being stable.

If you want this you can pretty do this yourself. Or get a shop to do it.

They sell thin rotating plates with a locking lever. Unbolt the seat and place between the rails and the seat. They are often sold for people do van conversions.
