Yes, I know there's another thread (CHAdeMO Adapter) but it's in the Model S area and I just resurrected it after 4.5 years of no posts. Someone else in another thread noticed the price has dropped in the US to $400 from $450. See CHAdeMO Adapter. For Canadians, CHAdeMO Adapter has it at $530 CAD. I believe it was $602 CAD before.
Pretty exciting but I guess I'll see if the CCS1 adapter comes instead. Supercharger network in Canada is excellent so there's no rush yet.
Exactly. The price reduction makes me wonder if (hope) a CCS adapter is coming soon. Maybe that would give us more than 50 kW.
Same sentiment here. Almost bit immediately once I saw the drop to $400 but praying the CCS adapter is coming and am waiting to see.
Although the Supercharger network in BC is ok and improving it’s no where near as extensive as the Chademo/CCS network. Chademo/CCS locations outnumber Supercharger locations almost 10 to 1. JMHO.
There are a number of owners in the Bay Area that have CHAdeMO adapters and are willing to loan or rent them out.
Some of the Tesla Owners Clubs have adapters that they loan out to members. Or it would likely be pretty easy to find another club member that has one and is willing to lend it.
It may not be a bad idea to buy this even for a year instead of loaning it from someone else. You can resell it on eBay or Craigslist after a year and still will not loose much over it. I hope CCS adapter will be smaller and cheaper than this.
