Chademo adapter

I bought a used S that previously didn't have supercharging enabled. Tesla enabled it when I bought it.

But I am curious, if supercharging was not enabled, would I still have been able to use the Chademo adapter I have?

“For Model S without Supercharging enabled, onboard hardware must be activated to use the CHAdeMO adapter.”

Technically Chademo only requires DC charging enabled. Supercharger access also requires DC charging. It is possible to have DC charging without supercharger access - it used to be an option on S60 where you could save a little money and enable only DC charging, but the saving was small (after deliver it was something like $2K for DC, $2.5K for DC+supercharging). Because the price difference was so small, I suspect there aren't many of those S60's out there with DC charging but no supercharging.
