Chance to buy "test drive" model - Should I ?

I’m curious what considerable is... I feel like Tesla could discount that as low as $2k to maybe $4k. Every time I’ve heard discounts for test drive or display models they’re a joke...

I was offered a test drive MY for when MY delivery was delayed in transit. It had 1000+ miles on it, they offered me $200 off "sticker" price. I laughed and declined.

Im sure that car will have some curb rash on at least two of the rims, which would dig into your discount. The car I test drove had 4100 miles on it and the 21"s were destroyed already. Personally for that amount id prefer a new car. Either way, im sure you'll be happy with a MYP!

I bought a test drive unit with ~290 miles on the odometer. I got a $510 discount. I would say that 300 miles is about the same abuse as I would have put on it brand new after first having bought it. However, 4900 miles is well into used car territory, and I would be pushing for a much larger discount than what you were quoted.

Thanks for all of the replies.

I reached out to the delivery specialist this morning and a brand new white one had popped up over the weekend.

I switched over to that one.

Hard launches, tires, curb rash, it wasn't worth the chance.

SO... now the wait for delivery begins!

Not everyone has had the same experience, but about 4 years ago I leased an S P90DL. It had been a demo car for a year and 14k miles. Other than a few chips on the hood, the car was fantastic the whole time I had it.

They discounted it by $36k (without affecting the residual, so it all came off the lease). Of course, in addition to age and miles, they discounted for the nose cone update it didn't have, and for the p100d model that was announced 2 days later.
