Never quite understood why company cars exist, as a "thing", other than for folk that do high business mileage. If that, as a perk, goes away then something else tax advantageous will fill the space ... if the Bean Counters can find something

I get tired of successive governments endlessly blundering about with tax regimes, and generally screwing everyone over, most especially when people like me make a strategic decision that has financial implications over a 5-7 yr period.

They should just make a simply % based scheme that adapts to changes in CO2 emission over time.
0% emissions should remain the lowest taxed by far for precisely the reason that it is 0% so not polluting at all at point of use, therefore must be the target for all vehicles.

Other rates should just be percentile banded so they change y-o-y as vehicle emissions change.
The whole thing can simply be made a zero sum game that idiots in government don't need to meddle with constantly.
