Charge port loose? Attempted vandalism?

I have always recalled the charge handle/J1772 adapter fitting in quite tightly to the charge port. Now I can wiggle either quite significantly in the vertical direction. I had left the car charging for most of a day in a public J1772 spot with a Capture Pro lock. I noticed how loose it was several days later at my next charge. I'm going to guess that someone tried to unplug me, and when it didn't work probably put a lot of force on the handle attempting to remove it, failing but damaging the port.

Or maybe it's just wear I never noticed? Anyone else have a loose charge port?

Staying plugged in, all day at a public site will tend to make people mad.
Plug in, charge, then move the car is the polite thing to do

I was waiting for this post to come... I was charging the whole time. There was another free spot, so I don't think the problem is another angry EV owner.

Did you get any charging interrupted alerts?

Does your Capture pro have the big bold LOCKED sticker on it? That could be an invitation to nefarious persons to just try and pull the connector out.

If I read correctly, it's the Tesla connector side that is loose on the adapter? Do you have a HPWC or UMC that you could also try and see if it is loose? Might narrow damage location for you to the adapter or the car.

I do notice that my adapter is the loosest of the Tesla connectors I have used . The UMC is also "loose", destination chargers are also loose, then any Supercharger is pretty tight.

I did not. But I usually select a slot so it's not possible for the button to work. Clearly that backfired this time as I would have gotten a notification and had time to review dashcam footage before it rolled over.

    It does.

Yes. I did try my HPWC, it is also now loose. Again, I don't ever recall being able to wiggle it significantly.

While writing this reply, now I remember a couple years ago it was almost impossible to pull the J1772 adapter out of the car without using the charger handle to pull on. It was that tight.
