"Charge" Release 100 Mile Electric Truck Concept

UK-Based Firm “Charge” Unveils Truck With All-Electric Range Of 100 Miles, Claims 1 Person Can Build One In Just 4 Hours

Another player in the electric Truck game - and one of the more well credentialed entrants too (prior experience developing trucks, current logistics partner to Formula-E)

Aims for a release of 2017 and makes some other whacky claims about assembly time. As this seems to be a 100% blank sheet design it'll be interesting to see some of the underlying tech concepts as they trickle out relating to chassis construction, material usage, etc.

That front end's gotta be a killer on aerodynamics; wonder how many more miles beyond 100 it could get if it were just a tad more streamlined?

At city speeds (20-40MPH) the losses from aero aren't of great significance:

Considering a 100 mile range this may be more intended to take on the low hanging fruit of the trucking world, short fixed route and intra-urban transportation.

Besides, the boxlike design gives maximum internal volume which may become a huge advantage if the truck is packaged well.

Sorry, I looked at this a while back, and it's pure vapourware. The idea that a company with only a computer rendering, and no prototype, and no factory, is going to be cranking out vehicles in less than a year? not a chance. Not to mention their ludicrous "1 person 4 hours" claim that just doesn't make sense.

There are some exciting entrants coming in the EV world, but this just isn't one of them. Wake me up when they have at least an Alpha driving around in the real world.
