Charged Hong Kong Annual Rally - 29th November 2015

This year's Charged Hong Kong rally will take place on Sunday 29th November 2015. We've now got the support of two great locations, and this was the date that worked for both of them.

The rally will start at 9am, Hotel ICON, Tsim Sha Tsui. We'll enjoy a buffet breakfast, beside the amazing vertical green garden. Valet parking is provided, and we'll be showcasing the cars at the front of the hotel.

Around 11am, we'll drive the eco rally from Tsim Sha Tsui to Science Park. There will be an eco-challenge aspect to the rally this year, as well as opportunity for an auto-pilot convoy. At Science Park, we'll be exhibiting the cars and talking to visitors to the park. For those still hungry, we can picnic/lunch at the park.

So, please put the date (29th November 2015) in your diary as 'confirmed'. With 3,000+ EVs on the roads of Hong Kong now, we're hoping for a fantastic turn-out for this opportunity to meet like-minded people, and show your support for the electrification of Hong Kong's transportation. In previous years, we've had owners waiting for their cars hitch a lift with existing owners. Much easier to find a spare seat with Model S than with Roadster ;-)

Just one little concern, are we starting a tiny bit too late at 9am, since the traffic might be bad when we drive from Hotel Icon to Science Park.

This is a rally not a race. (You will hear this phrase repeated many times at the briefing.) Each car will be numbered and you are expected to follow the car in front of you. If we do get stuck in traffic, we'll view it as an opportunity to demonstrate the efficiencies and environmental friendliness of EVs to the public. Last year, we got to a point where someone on our walkie-talkie Zello channel said, "Guys, it's actually quite impolite to be going at 80km/h on an 110km/h highway."
Besides, only a relatively short portion of the route (just as we are leaving Hotel ICON) will be urban. Once we hit the highways, I doubt there will be much traffic.

Some corrections to the above:

For 2015, it will be an "ECO Rally" style. This means that cars will be driving individually with short spacing between. So you have to know the route!

Details will be registered just before departing, for each car, as well as upon arrival. The Wh/km will be used for the ECO Rally to find the winners.
