no .... I keep my backpack, etc in the trunk so am in there anyway to grab my bag. and since I use the cable so often it's not coiled up. The plug is literally right behind the car when parked - less than 1 foot away.

I will time it - it might be faster than 30 seconds of extra time. It helps to not make assumptions doesn't it?
Whether you are "in there anyway" is by choice. What I was saying is that it takes longer than 30 seconds to get out, get into the trunk, get out the cable, and plug it in.

In your specific situation, if you are "in there anyway" you are discounting the time it takes to get out and get into the trunk, while I was not. Thats fine, your situation works for you because you are in there anyway. If you are timing, time from the time you put the car in park, till the time you finish plugging in. The fact that you are going to the trunk anyway doesnt make that time go away from being part of the time to plug in. It seems you assumed I ment "extra time" when I said "it takes longer than that".

I agree about the assumptions though.

Why not installing a Tesla Automatic Charger to save this extra 30 seconds of your precious time at work.

Our university bought a couple of $200 plug-in 120 volt EV Level 2 weatherproof “chargers” that work well and remain permanently in place. This may be a cost effective solution your company could be willing to pay for. It would solve the problem of having to drag out the UMC every day and other, non-Tesla EVs could take advantage of the charging opportunity as well. It's still only about 5 MPH, but that's forty free miles per day.
