The cable and connector will get warm, but should not get hot. My rule of thumb is that if you can hold the cable/connector for a “long time”, it’s just warm and not hot.
No, not really, although in the summer when the sun hits the handle it gets almost too hot to touch from that (yet another reason why canopies over charging stations would be a welcome sight).

I used my questionably accurate infrared laser thermometer today to check temperatures on my mobile connector plugged into a 240V 50A circuit with the car drawing 32A for a little over two hours.
Ambient air went from about 80 down to about 75 with a light breeze and no direct Sun on the cable.
I'd call it warm to the touch but certainly not unbearable. But I might also back it off to 25A since I only need a few hours of charging anyway and hopefully not warm up the circuit as much.
