Charging in Las Vegas

Stayed at the Rivera. After 3 hours of "begging" they let plug in 120 12A in the parking structure next to the rear entrance. Got about 2 miles per hour fill. After a day the car shut off after detecting an "extension cord" Guess the conduit wiring was small gauge. Topped off at the Cosmopolitan, Great setup there!

Bumping this dormant thread.

Planning on driving to Las Vegas. Any information on charging in hotels?

I'm assuming the Cosmo and Pallazo/Venetian chargers are Roadster chargers and not Model S.

So any tips on nicer hotels that give access to 14-50 or better would be appreciated.

I have no experience in Las Vegas in particular. And my general experience in finding hotels with EVSEs has not been great.

But at one point I was scouting out more rural places in Nevada (like Pahrump, which is not so far away from Las Vegas), and I noticed that a lot of casinos had a nice hotel AND and an RV park attached, so it looked really easy to get a charge and a nice place to stay.

It turns out the people we hoped to visit in Pahrump were going to be out of town when we passed through, so we ended up charging in Barstow (at both the Supercharger and the HPC) and at the Furnace Creek Ranch, both of which are mentioned above.

Seems to be a few on the strip.

Yes. There appears to be a no cost Level 2 charging at the Palazzo and the Venetian according to this article

I'm planning on staying at the Wynn and charging my car at the Palazzo across the street. Not planning on driving much in Vegas but need a charge before heading back to Barstow.

I'm going to call the Cosmopolitan and see if I can speak to someone who knows about the charging situation there. They supposedly have Tesla chargers but i suspect they are for the Roadster.

Decided to stay at the Four Seasons and charge at Mandalay Shops. Wrote an email to Wynn explaining how I always have tried to stay there in the past but moving to the Four Seasons because of the proximity of charging. Pointed out that Venetian, Palazzo, Cosmopolitan and Mandalay all have charging.

I just stayed a couple nights at the Wynn. I will write up a road trip report this weekend when I have some time, crazy week at work this week.

Long story short: I was able to plug in 110v at the Wynn, but still needed something more powerful to make sure I got up to range charge for the drive back to Barstow. So I went to Palazzo. They have two Roadster charging stations there, both empty and ready to use. Unfortunately, I don't have an adaptor for my Model S. Palazzo also has one ChargePoint charger on the second level of parking next to the Employement Center. Unfortunately, both stalls next to the charger were ICE'd. That must happen often as the Chargepoint site has a review for that location saying that happened to the reviewer, and the guard at the parking lot also said they are often unavailable to EVs.

So this is what I found. I went on the 15 North, two exits up, where the outlet mall is located. Next to the mall, they have 6 Chargepoint stations for county offices. Easy to find, and free charging. Charged at 30 Amps, and 21 MPH on the charger. Nice!! So I added about 40 miles back on the car, did some shopping and hanging around. That extra 40 miles got me to a full range charge by the time I left Vegas. No issues, what a great way to travel.

It'll be nice to see the details of your trip. I'm planning on making the trip on my 60 but I'm afraid I won't have a reliable place to range charge to make it back to Barstow. Do you have a 60 or 85?

I just made this trip in a 60 with my entire family (5 total) and a LOT of luggage.

No range anxiety whatsoever, even stopped at The Mad Greek for a meal on the way back to Barstow.

We charged at the Mandalay Shops and I never had a problem securing one of the two charging stations.
