I have to be in Niagara Falls the weekend of Apr 8-10 and the round trip from Scarborough is around 320km without accounting for any additional driving. That is borderline for my P90D.

I am staying at the Americana Resort and they said that they should have some electrical outlets available at parking spots - likely 120V. That may be ok if the weather isn't too cold but I am looking for backup options just in case.

Looking on Plugshare there aren't many options in Niagara Falls other than hotels and presumably you have to stay at the hotel to use their charging. There is a 30A/200V outlet listed at a place called Graybar Canada, which seems to be an electrical wholesaler, but no one has checked in for over 9 months and one of three reviews said there was no power when they tried the place.

Anyone know of any other places as a backup, perhaps someplace not listed on Plugshare?

There is a decent 80A charger in Grimsby and I used the 70A one at 'Taps On Queen Brewhouse & Grill' a year ago. On the other hand, I started with a 100% charge in Stouffville and made it back to Lawrence SC with no problems this January on my P85D.

The Taps on Queen was the one site in Niagara that looked useful. I may have to go there for a bit on Saturday if I don't get a plug at my hotel and/or that other electric place is a no-go.

When I arrived there, the spot was ICEd by an ugly van. Luckily the charging cable is long enough so you can park sideways in front of the ICE vehicle.

Try the Sun Country Highway charger map. There's quite a few hotels and such with chargers.

If you extend the search to the surrounding communities there's also a Canadian Tire up the road a bit, and Brock University.

There were lots of Sun Country sites at hotels but I don't know how useful those are unless you happen to be staying at one of those hotels and my hotel was pre-chosen as it is the site where my daughter's dance competition is taking place.

Thanks - that is pretty much what I see on Plugshare - mainly hotels, the brewpub and Graybar.

If worst comes to worst you could use the Supercharger in Buffalo and top up quickly.

    Shops at Main / Transit

    4455 Transit Road

    Buffalo, NY 14221

Btw I also live in Scarborough (northwest) so it'd be nice to see where you end up so i can also plan accordingly.

I guess so but crossing the border twice can be painful.

    Where's your Nexus pass :)

    In Grimsby you can use:
    Balsam Lane Public Parking
33 Elm St, Grimsby, ON L3M 3G5, Canada

    80A dual Charger.

I do have one so that would make things easier, but no one else in the family does so I would have to make the run by myself. Do you need your passport as well when you take the Nexus Whirlpool bridge?

No they're not supposed to ask for the Passport as the Nexus land boarder. But bring one just in case I say.

Once you are ready to start your return trip, put the Lawrence Supercharger as destination in your navigation. If it predicts 10% or more battery left then you are good to go. This was my experience in January. Otherwise, get a few km charge at the Brew Pub or in Grimsby.

I do this trip 3 -4 times a year. Doable in warmer months but not practical in winter. Try the Casino Fallsview charger, most of the time in the evening it is open. One the way home if you need a buffer use the Grimsby chargers by the LCBO...good location and many restaurants around.

If you're going to use the Fallsview Casino charger, note that you must enter the parking garage from the front entrance. If you go into the side entrance you will be on a separate part of the parking garage where you cannot get to the charging spot. Learned that the hard way :)

While they don't normally ask, they can ask you for your passport, and I believe not having it could be grounds for removal from the Nexus program.

This is accurate. The NEXUS pass does NOT replace a passport. There are many reasons the NEXUS privilege can be taken from you. Make sure you read that fine print.

I've been ICED there before as well...I went into the Pub, and the management was very responsive in getting the ICE moved!

I ended up using Graybar. The charger there is giving me 207V and 30A for about 27 km/h. The hotel has a few 120V outlets but when I tried one it didn't seem to be working the hotel said they turned it on but it was still a no-go.
