Charging issue

Having an issue I think has been addressed before on here. New 2020 Model 3 LR dual motor I picked up in December.

When I try to charge it says the charging cable is not secure. Appears on the left side of the charging port a black piece may have broken off? See attached photos.
Will Tesla come out and fix it for free? I have Mobile service scheduled for next week. If so, do they replace with a sturdier part? Or will this keep breaking over and over again including when the warranty is over?
Very disappointed this happened so quickly in ownership. :(

There's a service bulletin on that. Check in your charging port. The part that fell off may be stuck in there preventing the charge handle from completely inserting.. It is completely safe to use things that are metal to get it out I.E coathook, needle nose pliers, screwdriver, etc.

Tesla has already designed new pin fronts. It's one of those things where the first time mobile service or a service center sees the car the systems tells them to automatically upgrade it.

Don't worry about the car. Tesla is on top of it. They constantly watch service center reports to see what is failing, do failure analysis, and design better parts. They want to actively improve these cars.

And yes, they'll fix this for free and install the improved part so this doesn't happen again.
