I've been meaning to do some recon out in OC for when friends come into town and this weekend was the last weekend I could do that so I made a day trip. I've also been craving the kabobs from OC Kabob. So good.
I went through the same routine as Lanny. I called the main office (39415 Inlet Road
Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971 (302) 227-2800) before I headed out and they asked if I was a resident of DE or out of state. They told me charging wasn't going to be a problem and the people at the main gate of the campground will show me where to go. Someone else called within a day or two of me getting there.
On Google maps the location of the campground is just south of the Charles W Cullen bridge and labeled
Delaware Seashore State Park Campground. The ladies at the gate were friendly and I just told them of the arrangement made with the main office and they gave me a parking pass and a paper with the rule of the site and the location of where I'd go. There are three auxiliary/overflow sites left open in case there is an emergency and a normal reserved site has to be moved. IIRC the numbers were 342, 343, and 344. I attempted to charge at 342 and 343 but my charger wasn't getting any power from them but 344 worked for me. As I mentioned earlier I couldn't charge continuously at 40 amps so I dialed the amps back to 30.
The car caught the attention of a lot of people so I engaged in Tesla time. A friendly camper even gave me spaghetti and meatballs. One guy thought I was super rich and wondered if the car was worth it. Claimed maintenance cost on high mileage gas cars aren't a lot since he's been running his truck for so long. Lost battle so I moved on. A few people mentioned only seeing only 1 or 2 Teslas in the OC area.
If you bring fishing gear you can go to the inlet by the auxiliary sites to fish and a beach is no the other side of the bridge. Word of advice from a camper while i was there is to not walk through someone's campground even if it's wide open.

Yay! I've got power. I was hesitant to take many pics in the campground. Didn't want people to feel their privacy was invaded.

Walking under the bridge leads to the beach. Seems like a nice way to pass the time. There's also a snack bar and wash house.
Arrived home with the lowest charge I've ever had. Love the data this car gives you. Wasn't worried at all and was able to adjust my speed with cruise control to make sure I was on target
