Charging Port Sensor Error CP_w043

Hello! Brand new to owning a tesla, 2015 Model S 90D with 50K miles.

Been out of town for about a week now and did not leave the tesla on the charger. Day i got back i ran the most recent software update 2023.12.11 then about another day later i got into the car and see the Error symbol stating "Charge Port door sensor fault". When the car is not on It wont do anything. But when turning the car on i can open it but will not close unless i constantly click it or i put the car in drive then it shuts and locks.

Basic Vehicle warranty is expired by a month or so now. Only warranty i have left is the Battery and Drive unit. Which im not sure which the charge port falls under?

ive found a few things online but nothing short of having tesla come and fix the sensor.

If it looks like its not going to rain for a few days-week or so, you could try popping off the rubber boot shown in the video, leaving it open so it can dry out fully. Helps to park the car with the charge port facing the sun. I just inspected my still working Model S charge port door mechanism, and it also had condensation inside. I let it dry out, hopefully extend it's life. Though it is a reasonably priced part.

Might be water, my drain clogged up and had about inch or so pooling. Have to remove taillight to replace. Sensor was submerged in water.
