Chatter about 2019 deliveries with EAP getting free FSD (question)

I know I've seen chatter here and else where about people claiming to have spoken with Tesla CS (some even have screenshots) but has anyone been able to confirm the validity of this claim?

I order and picked up my car on 1/09/2019 / 1/12/2019 with EAP and I paid $5k for it. My account says pay $2k for the FSD. Are people in the same boat buying this vaporware or sticking it out based on this rumor?

I’m in the same boat as you. Delivery on 2/15... price dropped $5,000 two weeks after delivery! Texted with customer service and confirmed free FSD. I’m a bit worried though because I did this during the height of the blowback and now they’re raising prices. I’m not sure what this means for me... I’m going to text them tomorrow and ask when it will be added to my account (mine still shows it as an option for 2k). At the very least a note needs to be added to my account saying I’ll get the upgrade... some kind of proof beyond the text conversation, you know?

I took delivery of mine on 3/1 (Ordered on 2/24 with EAP), the day after they axed the EAP package. Needless to say, it was a strange delivery day.

As I understand it, those of us that ordered/configured/took delivery with EAP before 2/28 have AP+
"Most of FSD", and need to pony up the $2,000 upgrade fee before Monday if we want to reap the rest of the not-yet-released FSD features coming later this year and beyond (I.e. Advanced summon, traffic light/stop sign detection, etc.). When I took delivery, my delivery specialist told me "In a nutshell, you're getting FSD", but I suspect he really meant "FSD with all currently available features".

I too, see the $2,000 FSD upgrade option in my Tesla Account page right now.

Hmm wow, that is great for those who bought EAP in 2019! Had Tesla taken FSD off the menu by then?

I don’t believe FSD was even an option for 2019 buyers.... it certainly wasn’t when I purchased in February.

My assumption is that Tesla will only offer the free FSD upgrade to people who make the effort to complain. Why lose money upgrading everybody if some people don’t care and others are willing to drop another $2k? They’re a business, after all.

This is very interesting. I upgraded my 6/17 x for the 2k and got an email thanking me with what they charged my credit card and the x had a message on it that it now has fsd. I upgraded my 3 for the 2k also but never got an email reciept, no message in car but option to upgrade gone. I checked the specs on both cars and both say eap and full self driving? I paid 5k on 1/18 for eap when I bought the car. Was fsd gradis?

Just got an email back from support confirming EAP is “mostly” what is now considered Autopilot + FSD. The $2K FSD upgrade on EAP vehicles gets you NoA in the city, no confirm lane change, traffic light/stop sign awareness, etc. future updates. Basically more autonomous features, which is what FSD is supposed to be in the long-run. I just upgraded on Monday morn with the same limited feedback; confirm screen after purchase, vehicle config listing FSD, and nothing more.

Get it in an email, you want it in writing. They attached a note to my account that guaranteed referral benefits, when i upgraded to performance through friends referral link was that same as reordering. Then later told me that upgrades don't count and he never got his wall connector.

I just texted with Tesla for the second time to confirm the FSD upgrade was free even though my account still shows it costs $2,000. They said it’s still free but they have not been given information regarding when it will be activated. They confirmed that it’s been permanently noted on my account to be free.

I would ask them to send me an email, but that's because they changed their minds a few months later for me, and there was no one who could confirm anything noted on my account at that point.

I showed pictures of the rewards program at that time, pictures of my order date email confirmation etc.

They simply told me, yea but it does not count since it was an upgrade. The "note" on my account either didn't show or they didn't care about it, and I never saw the "note" on my account.

Interesting. I just chatted with a rep today and he indicated the policy has changed and it will cost me $2k to get FSD

In Switzerland (and perhaps Germany), nearly everyone who ordered EAP and took delivery in late Feb got an SMS from Tesla saying they will get FSD for free. It makes sense though, for example, I took delivery on 1 March and could’ve returned the car and ordered a new one with FSD for the same price. I’m guessing Tesla just upgraded everyone to avoid a costly logistical nightmare.
