A few weeks ago some takeout food leaked in the trunk (unfortunately into the crevices near the sides) and now the trunk smells fowl. Any tips to get rid of this?

@smicker, with all those small gaps, you may be best off trying to remove the tub and hosing it down to ensure all fluids are irrigated. Lots of fasteners to remove but overall not too difficult a job.

Hopefully it won’t be too much of a “burden” and that the time “flies” by quickly.

I'm so sorry, I have a reputation at work for being the punny guy!

Hope you can get rid of whatever food is stuck underneath the trunk tub. I'd use a good detergent too to break down any oils.

Go to a pet shop supplies shop that specialises in fish tanks, ask for pump charcoal.
Generously sprinkle it on the splashed/smelly carpet, leave for a 4 days.
Alternatively activated charcoal from a drug store (crush the tablets with a pestle and mortar.) then vacuum the charcoal powder once the smell has gone. The charcoal hack worked for me.

I have had excellent results with FreshWave, no obnoxious odor.
prior owner of ICE vehicle used aftershave to bathe apparently, this product solved the problem

Baking soda. Works wonders for smells

For this to work, the source of the smell needs to have largely dried out. Lightweight tape (painter's tape) the door joints to keep the gas from seeping out overnight. Then let it air out.
BTW: This is a product with a shelf life. An old package might not have enough active ingredient left.
