Is there any ‘hard’ news in this NRC article? I didn’t see any mention of this throughout the NL/BE forum here.

Hi @AudubonB , no real 'hard news' in that article. It's just a journalist who says we may next year see a tsunami of cheap Chinese EVs coming to The Netherlands, helped by the fact that a lot of Dutch don't mind driving shitty cars when they don't cost much and are not able to distunguish a good car from a bad car. The author seems to be one of them. He does reveal some shortcomings, even serious ones like 3-star crash ratings and low charging speeds, but doesn't see them as problematic. The future will tell if he is right.
