Hello,

Having a Tesla is awesome, but does anyone one know whether they are planning to release Chinese software?
Or do the Tesla's on the Chinese market are already featured with the Chinese language?

Thanks in advance,

Frederik

cool, thx Cynix!

now let's hope they are going to release it in Belgium too... or give us the choice to go to service center to install Chinese firmwire.

Do you actually want Chinese software or Chinese language option? Because if I am not mistaken, Chinese software would use different map provider, different 3g provider and probably different radio provider.

Chinese software

Yeah, you really don't want to use navigation software designed for China. The Chinese government offsets the map data it publishes (“for national security reasons”), and Chinese navigation software compensates for this by offsetting the GPS coordinates it receives. If you feed it correct (unoffset) map data of your country, the displayed coordinates would be wrong.

What's the point of this then. If the navigation software knows how to unoffset the coordinates wouldn't that mean that anyone can do the same thing?

Technically you need to use a government-supplied module to unoffset the coordinates, and they only license it to registered navigation software providers etc. But of course someone has reverse engineered the algorithm.
