Chip in windshield

If you get a chip on your windshield glass, take it to an auto glass place and at least attempt to have them fix immediately. If the spider webs expand and you have to replace it, three main points:

1. Tesla might be the only place to get it done
2. You will likely wait a long time for the part to come in
3. My Model X glass is just over $1500 USD

If you can get the epoxy fix from an auto glass place, get it done before the crack(s) spread. Anything resembling a crack in your line of vision is a failed vehicle inspection.

I had a chip about 8 weeks ago, still waiting on mine to arrive at the service centre.

Got it fixed. It's still noticeable but could be worse.

I had a similar issue but not as bad as yours. I went to Canadian tire and bought a glass repair kit (Perma-fix). Was easy to use and costed $20. I think it was worth the $20 as it could cost more to replace the windshiled if the chip spreads later on. Hardly notice it now.

Anyone with Exoshield and can provide a review/update?

With more folks getting chips, and more glass coverage (like pano roof on Y), I would think these types of film would be on the rise (at least for tesla owners)...

Did anybody have their windshield film protected?
Am doing mine but been waiting for the right 1 mill film to come in
Cost is $350.

Windshield protection is a waste of money IMO, it costs 500 bucks out here and needs to be replaced every couple years.

I say just have good insurance with a lower deductible and replace it when you need it.
