Churchill and breakdown cover

Just taken out an insurance policy with Tesla ready for when the car is delivered. I wanted to take out breakdown cover with them which is through Green Flag. I know we have breakdown cover with Tesla but I hear they can take ages to come out so wanted to have additional cover in place. The telephone advisor informed me that they do not do breakdown for Teslas because they are in partnership with them and because they have specialist equipment they are unable provide cover.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Good call on getting an alternative to Tesla Roadside Assistance. I certainly would not treat the Tesla offering as a comprehensive or timely package. Lots of exclusions and geographic and time of day limitations that would be covered by dedicated Roadside Assistance companies.

Can't help with your question though. We have AA assistance and spec the cover up to cover other circumstances that you hope to never need but glad you had if needed. Alas, AA is one of those companies that you have to play games with every renewal to keep costs reasonable.

Thanks for the reply. Just spoken with another advisor and they said I can have it. Both of these people have spoken with their team leaders to check. So i am confused.com now.

I've got roadside assistance with Green Flag for my M3 LR. Despite using Churchill as my insurer I organised roadside direct with Green Flag as I actually amended an existing roadside policy with them initially. I'm not convinced they know what they're dealing with though, I told them it was a M3 and the advisor then proceeded to ask me if it was manual or automatic... I explained and his response was so automatic is probably closest then...

Is there a preferred breakdown service for Teslas?
I too have mine with Churchhill and got the same initial response as you so right now I am just with Tesla roadside service.

Also be careful when using Churchill. I used compare the market and then they take you direct to them to purchase it. So i called up and agreed the policy. Now when I login it gives me brief details of cover and says Legal Protection is not covered, even though I clicked on it as an extra to purchase. I have had to call them back twice now because I am not sure if it is on my policy or not. I will have to wait and see when my documents come in the post.

I use the RAC in part because they have vans with the facility to provide roadside emergency charging. Not a particular concern of mine, but my wife is a recent EV convert and has her own car and wanted to know there was a solution 'just in case'.

Does the RAC still do vans with chargers on? I just elsewhere they scrapped them but that could be wrong.

I've not read that anywhere and it would be surprising if it were true.
I took out a basic RAC membership for precisely this reason. The EV boost system which provides up to 10 miles of range, enough to get you to a charger, is still being advertised on their website.
The website has a video showing the system being used by an RAC man to help a woman who has clearly ran out of juice.
