Now, for the $5000 question: is this mode exclusive to the performance upgrades package or will those of us who want to do our own thing in the brakes/wheels/tires/suspension department get to play as well?
Thankfully, it’s not. In mkbhd’s video, he explains its a mode that allows you to (instead of feeling super planted) throw the backend out, power slide around corners, etc.
Well, I still think the changes, additions, and functionality are just starting for this car.
Think of what can and has been done for smart phones.
Now think of what could be done with a smart phone with seats, wheels, and cameras. !!

How does that mean it couldn't be limited to the models with the Performance Upgrade Package?
He didn't say anything about which cars would or would not have it. In fact it sounded like he wasn't even sure it would be on cars yet. (They haven't given it an official name yet.)

Tesla will be pushing the Track Mode software update over-the-air to the Model 3 Performance "soon" -- that's as specific as Tesla's representatives were willing to get -- but only if the Performance Upgrade package is also equipped.
