So I placed my reservation 4-20-16, To date, no vehicle only broken promises around delivery. Once canceling less than 10 hours before scheduled pick up. Paid the $56,000 9-15-18 because delivery was scheduled for that weekend. Of course it go t cancelled. Got a revised date of 9-30-18 only to have that date cancelled. I spoke to a delivery specialist today and was informed that it would be another 30 days at least as the vehicle has not been produced yet. I asked if there was a possibility the car would not even be delivered this year and the guy said he could not guarantee delivery would take place this year but it probably would. Meanwhile, I sold my car two months ago and the wife and i are getting by but it is challenging. This is very discouraging. Question, if they can't make delivery this year can I cancel and get all my money back? Part of my economic model was based on the tax credit.

I know that feeling and very sorry for you.

Tesla delivery timeline has historically been all over the map and very unpredictable.

What, they took your money on 9/15 and told you that your car has not been produced? SMH. In a normal business practice for any other car manufacturer, the car should've been ready, then collect money from customer, then customer gets the car. WTH is Tesla doing?

I'd be concerned about the money transfer that occurred. It could have been invested elsewhere which likely would have appreciated.

This makes for an important reminder to people who haven't yet taken delivery but have an appointment: do not pay Tesla anything (ACH or otherwise) until you can sit in your car and it has everything you've ordered. I brought a cashier's check to my delivery appointment based on this advice that someone gave.

In North Carolina they cannot take a check. You have to pay through ACH. I wonder if I can get a loaner.

I've heard cases where buyers would make the ACH transaction from their phone in front of the delivery advisor the moment they take delivery of the car, but that's unfortunate. Hopefully state legislatures change that policy sooner than later.

I'm currently in the same screw job. I've paid and now they won't even talk to me. I mean WTF is this nonsense.

I find this completely unacceptable to be honest. Are you not able to escalate this further up, I'd call the main number and have a supervisor call you.

Have you guys already escalated your issues for executive review or is that not possible yet since you don’t have a car?

Not sure how to escalate. I've tried email. I'm open to suggestions. Maybe call Palo Alto?

Have you reached the "delivery hotline" number (it's posted somewhere else in this forum)? It's the first phone number which seems to have people who know anything.

If you've tried that and can't get anything, demanding all your money back is probably the only way to go.

Edit: I note you don't have a car. If you sold your car based on the delivery date they gave you (and cancelled) you can also contact the local delivery center / service center and tell them you need a loaner or Tesla-paid rental. In most of the country, they have been doing this for people who they left high and dry with no car.

This is the dedicated delivery phone - 888-771-2505. I called yesterday after not hearing anything all week from my botched delivery before end of Q3. No wait to talk to someone. I was assigned a new delivery advisor.

You should have done a cashier's check. That way, don't give it to them until you get your car. If your car didn't come, re-deposit it back. That was my plan.

Helllll No! So, let me get this straight. They have $56K of your hard earned cash and haven’t delivered you anything since you paid on 9-15? If it was me I wouldn’t bother calling anyone. I’d drive to the SC where delivery was to occur and speak with whoever was the person in charge there and explain the situation. If that didn’t work I’d inform my bank of the situation to see if they could assist with transfer of the funds back to you since Tesla has not held up their part of the agreement.

Matt Vaught. He has moved into energy department at Tesla. They basically used all these people with no delivery experience for Q3 push.

Very sorry to hear about this problem. If it isn’t too far away I would definitely go into the delivery center in person and ask for return of the funds. You shouldn’t have to do it this way but I bet it would be effective.

As for ACH - I paid for my car with an ACH transaction only after I was able to sit in and look at the actual car. I logged into my Tesla account with the delivery adviser watching. The ACH went through and he was happy and I owned the car. This was a Friday afternoon. The money stayed in my account until Monday.

If would have suspected all this I most certainly would have done it differently. I was called on Monday and told the vehicle was ready to be picked up Saturday and payment needed to be received before delivery could be made. I should have known better. Tuesday I'm off to the Charlotte SC for a "chat" with whoever is in charge.
