Copy of social security card requested for Alliant loan?

My Tesla credit specialist asked for a copy of my signed social security card to finalize my loan with Alliant. Long story short, I've looked all over for my SS card and cannot find it. Has anyone else had experience with this? Is there really no other way they can verify whatever info they need without this? I know I can go order another card at the SS office but I imagine there will be a wait... my Tesla went into production 12/4 and I pick up at the factory so I'm worried this will delay my pickup. Thanks for any help if you encountered this situation and can offer advice/solution.

I had this same request from Tech CU. And like you I can't find my social security card. After a lot of discussion they are accepting the first two pages of my tax return. Hopefully that's enough, I'll find out today.

Thanks for your replies. I can provide those items so hopefully that will suffice. If not, I did learn that you can go to the social security office, order a replacement card, and get a temporary paper that is valid as a social security card while you wait for your new card to arrive.

New update- After much arguing, Alliant will NOT take a tax return in place of a social security card. Also, the social security office will not give you any temporary proof of your SSN while you wait for a new card to be delivered. Moral of the story, have your SS card ready if you plan on using Alliant.

Try TechCU. They used a tax return as a substitute to the SS card.

Pick up P100D on Wednesday, used Alliant with no mention at all of SS card. They did ask security questions in order to assure my identity some of which went back to my childhood. It may be that your on-record history is not as robust as they like and they want secondary source.
