Could auto-open frunk struts possibly cause damage to the locking mechanism?

I just installed auto-open struts for the frunk. Could they possibly be damaging the opening mechanism from opening too fast and catching the lock?

I've had auto-open struts that I installed 3 years ago. Other than the fact that they have become sluggish in opening, everything works just fine. A little WD-40 on the struts once in a while fixes the sluggishness.
